CB Antenna?

Hi guys,

I searched the forums but didn't come across anything on the subject so if its already been asked i apologize.

I just picked up a Cobra DSC radio today and want to know if I could use a CB VHF antenna rather than spend the extra money on a marine antenna. The antenna that I have is a 6' SS antenna with a SS ratchet base.

I still have to pull the antenna out of the attic but from memory the plug looks the same.

CB isn't VHF, and it isn't anywhere near the same frequency band as your marine radio. Won't work worth a hoot and you risk damaging your radio when you transmit due to the mismatch.

That's why I ask these questions. I wasn't too concerned with damaging the radio as much as I was opening the door to the attic =). Its home to just about every typical "attic" item known to man! And requires a tight rope act just to get around up there!

Thanks for the heads up! I can once again forget about the CB antenna somewhere in the attic lol
