i got a 1964 johnson 5.5 took of the lower unit and there is no gasket anyone know were to get or what to use to make one i also need the rubber one for the gear case any help will be great thanks
Hi Frank. You can get a reseal kit right here at iboats. Search the forums for threads on how to do the reseal job itself.It's pretty easy, really. You'll want a tube of 3M 847 gasket sealant too, which you usually have to order, or buy from a dealer. Great stuff, but a little pricey. I know a mechanic that uses Permatex 1000 on his LU's and you can usually find that at most auto parts stores in small tubes for just a few bucks.
No gasket needed where the lower unit separates from above. Upper to lower gearcase seal is #303328 (spaghetti seal). You need to use sealant as stated ^. Lots of info here if you search..
