Can anyone tell me what the yellow wire with red stripe coming from the CD6 pack controls? The reason for the question is the wire was pinched and bare wire was showing, probably shorted out. BTW the year model is 1990

Yellow with red stripe should come from ignition switch to starter solenoid. Will look at diagram tomorrow.

Some of the early loopers with Quick Start had one wire connected to starter solenoid, but cant remember details, except to test power pack, this wire was disconnected to bypass Quick Start. Maby someone spliced a wire with wrong color, or colors faded. I sometimes go to Aharia in September, If you dont have it sorted out by then, I can go a day early and help you sort out some of the problems.

Thanks for the answers. Reason I asked is the quick start on that motor was never cutting out. As I was changing out the CD to an older one that I assumed was good, (I know) I found the wire pinched. I repaired that wire and completed the installation of the older CD, fired it up and to my surprise the quick start feature worked. Now to put it back in the water today and see if the WOT lack of rpms has been eliminated.

This engine has yellow/red stripe wire from power pack, connected to yellow/red stripe starter wire to engage Quick Start.

clanton, Thanks for the feedback. After finding the pinched wire and repairing it the quick start feature started working. Put the boat in the water yesterday and found the timing waasn't following the throttle. To make a long story short, I got that repaired and will be going back today to run it. I will do an idle timing and then check the wot timing. Time for fishing offshore... ;)
