Celebrity fuel tank question

I bought a 1985 Celebrity 19' w/ the 260 Mercruiser in it. I asked the guy I got it from what size fuel tank it had and he wasn't sure but thought 20 or 30 gallons. First time out I stopped at the nearest fuel dock and took on 38 gallons.
Could anyone out there that has owned or does own an '85 era Celebrity 19 footer tell me what size fuel tank it has?

Wow that's a big tank. Sounds to me like someone along the line put a much larger tank in it than the original. happened with my 1972 18 foot Sea Ray. The original had a 20 gallon tank. When I bought it it had a 26 gal tank.

if you can gain visual access to the tank, there should be a certification label or some sort that would indicate the capacity of the tank.

If you can get the dimensions of the tank then you can figure out the capacity.

The label on these tanks is usually on the top of the tank near the fittings for fill, pickup, vent and gauge. If you get the dimensions 1 cubic foot = 7.48 gals
