Does anyone know where I can get a filtered cell phone charger for my car?

When I use my charger in the car (through a cigarette lighter) I get a lot of static noise when listening to my am radio. So bad in fact, you can't even hear it.

I'm guessing a filtered charging circuit of sorts would cure it.

If anyone knows where I can buy a filtered charger, or a circuit to build one let me know!
I have a Nokia phone.

I tinker with CB radios, and build various custom circuits, so I'm familiar with some basic electronics.

Thanks!

H.

Yes Matt...
I listen to Am exclusively for my news.
AM 1440, and AM 880.

Michael Savage, Lars Larson, etc...

I don't listen to FM much anymore.
Occasionally I'll listen to some music, but it gets rather boring hearing the same 'ol **** over and over.

Thought about the XM radio (satellite), but I don't spend enough time in my truck to warrant the monthly fee XM wants.

I burn all my music to CD's.
I'm considering an MP3 deck, or stuffing a small PC in it somewhere.
I guarantee a PC and a sound-card in my truck will outperform any off the shelf system you buy at a car audio store.
I've seen this done, and it's sweet! :)

Imagine the sound quality of a top notch Sound-blaster card, and the storage capacity of a hard drive? Thousands of songs at your disposal.

H.

Homerr,

I've done exactly what you're talking about with the pc. I put one in my truck over 2 years ago and it's still kickin.' PC's aren't as fragile as people think so don't worry about temperature extremes or the like. Heck, mine has been in two rearendings and one other little freak incident where my truck ended up in the ditch. It never shut off in either one of the rearendings. I've been wanting to upgrade mine a bit because it's having a little trouble playing video files encoded with the xvid codec. I have a 5.5 inch flip down lcd screen, a little keyboard mounted on the sunvisor, and a wireless remote/mouse that I use to run winamp. You have to alter the windows settings to make the words show up big enough to see on the screen. I have a 120gig harddrive with over 70 movies, the entire SG1 Series, and some other video files as well as over 5700 songs. I can tell you one thing, it WILL SPOIL YOU :D ;) . If you need any help or tips just let me know. Heres a link to some pictures of it. Truck Computer

Wow! That's a cool set up.
I had toyed with the idea of just using a laptop in my truck in a kinda similar fashion, never thought about going the route you did.....
The key board location is a sweet idea!
I drive a Ford Crew Cab Superduty so I have tons of room to work with.
New project coming up....

BTW, I am hooked on the SG1 series too.

Thanks for the compliment bomar. I don't really have much time right this second, but I'll give you access to my ftp server where I have every single episode. You can watch it from day one. I won't be back on for a couple of days, but as soon as I get back online I'll hook you up ;) .

James
