This morning on the way in to work one of the local radio station claimed to have a news update from the Mississippi Department of Communications.....claiming that on any major through fare in the Jackson, MS metro area, if you are driving 55mph or faster and talking on your cell phone. That will cut off after 30 seconds of talk time.

After I got to work a young lady I work with heard the same thing on the same station and called her mother and asked her to just stay on the phone with her. She said hers cut off after about 30 seconds.

I tried calling my wife to test this while on my way to work but as luck would have it I hit a spot in the interstate where the traffic slowed to under 55.

Yall think theres any truth to this? I can't find a State Department of Communications listed on the states web site.

I live smack dab in the middle of 12 million people and I cannot get cell service at my house. When they get this right I'll go test the speed cutoff feature . . .

It is possible with the GPS function built into the phone. But I figured if you cut that off it would not work anyway. I would doubt it works though. Let us know what you find out. I could test around Christmas when I am making the long drive from Augusta, Ga. to Monroe, La. I drive right thru Jackson.

Well this is a site for TROLLing....

I doubt the phone companies would go for this as the call is free if it gets dropped by them..

my guess is that it would always happen in that spot you are in.

Some of the cell towers have problems transferring a call from 1 tower to the next, ironically people dont call in cause they think this is normal so the cell companies dont know they have a problem.

Tomatolord

Here's what I've found out...The young lady I mentioned in my first post called the Mississippi Department of Public Saftey ie: The State Troopers. They told her that they hadn't heard of anything being done like that. SO, Like Kagee said...the DJ had some fun this morning.

It's fiction, ;) but it sure seems that way sometimes. My new phone (same service) is much better.
