Looking at a sea nymph 14r - has a pull start with a steering console. guy said it was bought new with pull start. Seems strange with the steering and console. Question is can this be converted?. should I be looking for the mounting holes for a starter, assume they all have this? I have replaced starters on my 140 Johnson so Im somewhat familiar. Thanks.

Barnacle Bill, Just pics on boat , its on an island in Mi so an ordeal just to see it, the owner doesn't know. If Im talking flywheel plus starter and hookups, could be another 1000. for a 1200. boat. meyby better just to get another motor?? Like I always say "whatever floats ur boat"

mercury used ring gears on the flywheel of the 25s all the holes are on the motor very easy to convert. I have gotten lucky finding these motors burned up usually off of pontoon boats and get a complete system for cheap. It will not be a $1000 to convert parts are available used. If you do I would set it up as a pushbutton on the motor so you don't have to find a new carb top plate with the choke assembly.

So I would use the choke on the motor its self? Sounds like the function of the push button would bump the starter up to engage the flywheel?? sounds pretty simple?

I converted my '94 Merc 20hp two stroke to electric start a year or two ago. Pretty straightforward job to do and final performance is more than satisfactory.

But don't forget the alternator too.........I bought the kits with all new parts to do the job. Included everything needed along with complete and detailed instructions. If I recall, I think they cost me around $360.00.

You do not need a new flywheel you can get just the starter gear bolts up to existing flywheel is included in the kit
