Change gear lube

Hi all,
I'm changing my gear lube on a 2005 Alpha 1 today and have a question. I will be pumping from the bottom vent and when it is full and coming out of the top vent I will close off the top vent. Do I continue to use the pump to fill up the lube drive monitor container? Or at this point I can close the bottom vent and uncrew the cap on the lube drive monitor container to fill it up? Thanks.

No.......fill the drive from the bottom till it runs out the top vent hole.....install the plug(with new seal, do NOT reuse the old seals)......then install the lower plug.......then fill the reservoir bottle to a level of 1/8 to 3/16 over filled.....let sit over night and recheck reservoir......also when filling the drive, pump the oil into the drive slowly

Once you have gear lube entering the monitor while pumping from the bottom of the drive, it's fine to finish topping off the bottle from top.
