Changing awning out on a travel trailer with A&E Sunchaser by Dometic 8500 and 9000

Hello to everyone,
Yeap, I have a question for all of you concerning replacing the awning fabric on a travel trailer. The awning is a 19 foot, A&E Sunchaser by Dometic, 8500/9000. I have found instructions on-line how to remove it but I am not too clear where to insert the 1/8" cotter pin in the torsion assembly to keep it from spinning on me once I remove the awning tube from the travel trailer. I have never done this before and really need some clarification. I am pretty mechanical person using tools but those spring torsion assembly has me worried somewhat. If I know exactly where the cotter pin goes it would help me out tremendously. Has anyone of you removed and replaced your RV awning fabric and can give me some good constructive safe inputs on the how abouts of this job. Thank you, Bob here is the instructions I found on-line The cotter pin location confuses me is it inserted on the side where the roll up/rolldown lever or along where the rivets go? I am not sure? http://hmcclub.homestead.com/awning_replacement_instructions.pdf

u dont need the cotter pin...just make sure lever is set to roll down position and that will prevent it from unrolling,if it does there real easy to rewind with a couple turns.

If you have never done this, I strongly recommend letting an RV tech do it, once you get that spring rolled up, if it comes loose, your going to end up with a broken hand, I have seen it numerous times, I worked in the RV business back when I first went non active in the Military, and those darn springs are not something to mess with, at least call your local RV shop and talk to them, they may have some pointers for you, that will save you a lot of pain and agony!
