I have a 99 Maxum 2300 SR with a 350 mercruiser. It currently has the factory two barrel on it. The boat came with a 19 pitch three blade alum prop running at 41-42 mph at 4800 rpm. I want more speed. So I bought a stainless Merc Vengence 21 pitch. After installing it, I can only get 35-37 mph at 4100 - 4200 rpm. So I'm thinking if I replace the stock two barrel with a four barrel, it should pick up the rpm back to 4700 - 4800 and put me into high 40's to low 50's in speed. I read in forums that a good carb-manifold is Edlebrock marine carb 1409 (600 cfm) or 1410 (750 cfm) with an idle to 5500 intake. Question one: Is the 1410 too much carb? Or no. Question two: When ordering the intake, what year engine do I say I have? Is it a Vortec? I've seen that the number of bolts holding the current one on is the difference, but my boat is in storage now....I don't know.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard Dave,.... Yer heads Should be Vortec, but I'd check the number of bolts, before I bought the intake,....

The 1409 is the carb ya want, the 1410 is a tad Big,...
