The kit is a good one but why bother? it doesn't give you anymore anything. POints are fine and easy and cheap to install.

True, but performance degrades with points as the engine runs. That's why most people replace the points/condenser yearly as part of general maintenance. Electronic dizzy's don't ever lose performance, and don't have to have the dwell adjusted/set. There's nothing wrong with going electronic, as you can have a spare electronic unit just like you can a set of points.

Jennyo, I'm sure just about any kit would be fine. Pertronix is another well known brand as well for conversion kits.

Electronic distributors will vary with worn bushings, like any points type.

Thats true and on a hot motor it would make a difference, but for a simple motor it makes no difference. Anyone that thinks so is nuts.

Re: changing from ignition points to electronic ignition

I agree but how hard is it or how long does it really take to replace pts? It adds nothing to performance.

It is very very easy. All you need is a flat screw driver, a 5/16" wrench, and about 10 minutes (max) of your time. I could probably do it in 5 minutes if I was in a hurry.

I have read posts on the internet that argue that it does indeed add performance, but take that with a grain of salt (because it's the internet). I haven't noticed any increase in performance yet, but that's because I have other issues....

And the point is, with this deal you don't have to worry about replacing points anymore...

Here we go again.....some like points some like electric. Ive personally converted every boat I have owned over to electric points. I like the idea of set it and forget it .

I considered the Pertonix kit for my boat and after talking to my dad I did it. He has a '66 mustang he converted years ago. I put the kit on my boat and never looked back.
