changing impellor on Evinrude outboard

[CERF]

Can someone out there tell me the procedure to change the water pump impellor on a 1999 Ficht 200 engine. I am mechanically inclined, I just dont know the steps. Thanks for your help

Very hard to explain all the details of installing a Water Pump in any motor. Best that you pick up a Manual that will have pics to go along with an explaination on how to do it. It's a pretty basic procedure, but there are a few differences between models that the Manual will explain. Manuals can be had at the bottom of this page or your dealer. An additional thought/comment.<br />The bolts holding the "Lower" to the leg are often seized (a result of living in water). So be carefull when removing them.

I have a 1988 Evenrude on my boat. It's a 70 with VRO. I took the lower unit off, replaced toe impella and when I went to re-install I can't get the shift lever in properly. Any secrets? The bent rod I tried facing port and starboard. The linkage I tried both in and out. To remove it, I had to pull the carter pin and push in. Tried reversing still nothing. When the housing are joined and the boat is placed in forward the prop still free spins as if in neutral. I lifted it 20-30 times, can't seem to get the linkage to engage the small hole in the rod from the lower unit. HELP???????
