I have an F150 yamaha 4-stroke on a ranger 1850 fish and ski. The boat came with a 21 prop and the motor all the way up. A yamaha tech lowered the motor two holes and put on a 19 prop. It will turn 5600 rpm with two aboard at about 48 gps. Problem is it makes oil. If I run it hard the oil level stays in the normal range.
I'm wondering if raising the motor up one hole will raise the rpm closer to that magical 6000 rpm. It looks like an easy job to raise it up but would it not be advisable for me to attempt this with only myself and the wife?
