Changing Outboards

I just swapped out motors: a 2001 250 pro XB for a 2008 250 pro XS, I haven't run it yet because they sent me the wrong adapter plug. They sent me a 10 prong to a 14 prong, instead of an 8 for a 14 prong, so I haven't ran it yet. But I notice the speedometer tube on the 2008 is running to what looks like and sensor or relay switch right beside the main plug, where the 2001 tube was running straight to the speedometer. Does this mean that I will have to get a new speedo (maybe electric), or can I reroute the hose directly to the speedometer on this one like it was on the old one?

Just unplug it from sensor and go to line like your old one.
