I'm switching out a 3 blade for a Solas 4 blade on my 26 ft pontoon.. I've never changed a prop before and was wondering if I needed anything other than the prop i ordered... I'm hoping I can reuse the hub and other internal parts to install the new prop... Thanks

the solas comes hubbed already, I am pretty sure it comes with a new thrust washer. you can reuse your nut and cotter pin.

Re: Changing prop on yamaha 115 question

Grease the propshaft while the prop is off.....Lubriplate white grease is popular and is waterproof. Not sure about the rest of your question. Obviously you need a thrust washer for the prop to push against, the prop, a nut to lock it on and usually there is a locking device (cotter pin or tang ring) to keep the nut on.

Some props require a particular thrust washer as compared to OEM and as Sparkie said, may come with the prop. As I recall I bought a Turning Point once that had the replaceable hub and as I recall it had a thrust washer with it as the length of the prop connecting to the shaft was of a different length from OEM Mercs with their permanent hub and the new washer made up for that....otherwise use your old one.
