I have 21'Sea Fox DC,150 SW merc,19 pitch 3 blade (the everything boat)
Boat suffers when ballast added (800+lbs) to increase wake
tough on beginner boarders
I am looking at changing to a 4 blade 15-17pitch to help with this
I know RPM at WOT will be above suggested range but cant remember last time i ran that fast
Is this possible and will i get a better hole shot
Any help appreciated

Re: changing prop

I can't imagine why the boat would suffer by adding 800 pounds!!!!!! Yes, a prop with less pitch will help, probably a four blade is in order. Less pitch is the equvalent of shifting to a lower gear in your car or truck so yes, it will help hole shot. But without the ballast, you will need to watch wide open throttle RPM as it will likely over rev. It is also not a big deal to swap props if you know you'll be boarding a good part of the day. Then slip the standard prop back on if you know you'll be cruising with no chance of boarding for a few days.
