Changing rotation on a V/P 270 outdrive?

I mistakenly bought a RH prop for my Volvo/Penta 270 outdrive off of eBay. I got a great deal on it and it would cost almost as much to return it as what I paid for it. Someone suggested that it is very easy to change the rotation on the 270 drive by simply shifting a rod under the plate on the rear of the outdrive. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Tips? Are there any concerns about changing the rotation?

Changing rotation is easy. Best info with pictures is located in the service manual
