Changing shift seals in Volvo Penta DPS...stuck

Okay, maybe I'm doing this wrong (most likely)...

but after pulling the tiny (spring?) pin out ( you can see the hole in the brass piston), how does one get the bigger, shift detent pin out? That sucker will NOT come out?

was I supposed to push the tiny spring pin IN?

Okay, n/m. I guess some models of VP's, you have to drive something in. For this, guess you just need lots of lubricant and wait 24 hours to settle in. I just had to pry and pry that pin to get it out finally.

There is no pin or anything in that little hole to drive down. I think that's on other models of shift mechanisms. I see nothing in that hole. I think that keeper pin (shown in the pic) is what held the detent pin in.
