How difficult is it to replace the tilt/trim motor? The motor worked just fine two weeks ago, but over the weekend...it would not lift or drop the motor. I looked at the electric T/T motor and it is rusted to the point that the housing has holes in it. I am guessing that the motor is my problem. I hear the solenoid clicking under the cowling...I guess that is what I am hearing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Brian

A manual and minimal skill is required. Just be sure to secure motor well so it won't drop while pulling out old unit. Be sure to follow fill and bleed procedure when installing new unit. Some bolts might be a bit stubborn. Penetrating oil and a judicious use of force may be necessary.
Good Luck

The tilt motor is so rusty that when cleaning the outside of the unit....it fell apart. I have located a new one, but I'd like to get the orignal tilt motor off first.

I have ordered a manual for the motor, but just looking...I can not seem to figure out how to remove the tilt motor piston from the boat motor. Any clues?

Regards,
Brian

I have the manual in hand...it shows something that I could not figure out before. Corrosion made it impossible to see the c-rings on the tilt piston pin. I have the c-rings off…it seems that corrosion is keeping me from pounding the tilt cylinder pin. Any ideas on how to deal with corrosion?

Regards,
Brian
