Hello,

I own a 1993 Bayliner 2252 Classic. I use it for fishing Lake Michigan. I was wondering if anyone has ever converted their boat into a full hardtop using another boat? I would love to change mine into a fully covered (glass and all, not just a top). I have invested a lot into this boat. Where would I find a junk yard to get a hardtop from another boat? TIA

Because of how they mount and are supported, hardtops are typically boat specific.
You may get lucky and find one from a junked boat, but those changes are slim.

You should be able to find something after market. Atlantic Towers makes after market tops. Not cheap.

I looked for a hardtop for my boat for 3 years before giving up. By that time, two foot itice has set in. Sold the boat and bought the next size up with an OEM top

anything is possible. however you have to consider the extra weight you are adding and subtract it from the capacity tag. also consider the amount of time it will take to make the structural connections.

you would be farther ahead to sell what you have and buy what you want.

You might call Ed's Surplus Boat Yard in Manzanola, Colorado and see what he has that might work or could be modified to work. He is about 30 miles east of Pueblo and has about 2 acres of boats sitting in a field just outside of town and sells parts off of them. It's kind of like a pull a part place but for boats instead of cars. I picked up a bunch of used parts from him for my 76 SeaRay while I was working in Colorado.

the OP is in the midwest. not sure pulling parts from Colorado would be cost effective. there are boat salvage yards around the great lakes. if in the Wisco area, Green Bay propeller (and boat salvage) is one that comes to mind

However the capacity tag on the boat is for when the boat was designed as an open cockpit. adding 500# to the boat will subtract from the capacity, not to mention make that boat a bit tippy
