Just bought a 19' Chaparral bowrider with 5.7 litre power. Also Edelbrock carb and intake. I briefly touched on 46 MPH GPS in heavy chop waters. Didn't have enough time to trim it or enough medium choppy water to get a good feel. Any ideas what I should expect?

Should expect somewhere in the low to mid 50's if it is propped right. More important is when it is going flat out, is it in the maximum recommended RPM range? Don't worry so much about top speed, how often are you going to run it that fast?? If you do it often, your local marine engine rebuilder and the kid at the gas dock will become your best friends. Worry more about how it cruises and if you tube or ski how it gets out of the hole.
