Re: Chaps

Its alright to wear them as long as you dont wear western boots with them. they might mistake you for a truck driver. ;)

Re: Chaps

Flathead, I never had them (unless trash bags and duct tape count)but wish I did many times when riding in the cold rain. I don't think I would leave them on when not riding though.
PS, You got a pair for Christmas didn't ya? :D

You cant beat them for riding. especially in the
cold or rain.
And it helps if you want to look like one of the
village people.

Re: Chaps

Nope did not get a pair for Christmas. My family knows better than that. I would rather go naked than put on a pair of those things. I think they are about as gay as can be. I use flannel lined jeans or a union suit under my clothes when riding in the cold. The reason I asked is a big brouhaha on another motorcycle site about chaps. Thought I would get the opinion of those that don't ride.

Re: Chaps

I wonder about the chaps you refer to or have seen.

Always wore heavy leather chaps in cold weather and waterproofs in the rain. LOML made them for me, so they just looked like modified leathers.

Re: Chaps

The local Hells Angels chapter has riders that
wear chaps, So I wouldn't say they were gay
attire.

Re: Chaps

Might as well wear a decent pair of leather jeans. At least that way you don't risk roadrash on your behind :eek:uch:

Re: Chaps

Had some when on the ranch. They work great keepin legs warm on horseback working. They keep the jeans dry when working calves in the early damp mornings, snow, and rain. They also keep the rope from slapping my legs when roping calves. Also wore them fixen fence in the spring to help in case I stumbled into a rattlesnake.

Don't like the rodeo clowncowboy style with all the decorstions, fringe and dingalings hangin from them. Fringe helps wisk rain off them but kind of ugly.
