Been getting dogged by this charging issue. Tested the stator with my volt meter and every is fine, ohms from the wires that go to the control box are within range, when I connect my volt meter across the 2 yellow wires and spin the engine by hand I get voltage. Battery is good and start and operates my 66 International Scout 800 navy when not in the boat with no issue. Rectifier test good and I've actually replaced in hopes I tested it wrong and it's easy to replace and the tach seems to work fine, but no charge going to the battery... Yesterday I decided to put a dead battery in and jump start to see if it charges, and the engine runs, but the tach sticks at about 4000rpm voltage at the battery is about 5 or 6v and engine keeps running. What gives? I think I can pretty much say it's either the stator or the control box, just wish I could narrow it down more. As long as I have a good battery in there the tach works fine (I think this shows that the charging system should be healthy) but when I put a dead on on the tach flips out... Thanks for any help sheading some light!
