Charging system for Evenrude 48 Special

How would I measure the charging voltage for my Evenrude 48 special while it is connected to the battery? I don't believe it is putting out enough voltage to keep the battery charged. Little Winnie

Howdy, A.W. Measure your battery voltage with the engine off. It should be close to 12.6 volts. Crank the engine up, then measure it again. It should rise to 13 to 14.6 volts if the system is charging.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB

Thanks Red sky for the information. I just pulled the boat out of the water so it will have to wait until next year.
