I have a '66 40hp, rdsl-28 that runs great. Added the generator & voltage regulator, followed wiring instructions on the inside of the control box and from the Seloc manual. Everything works great-engine strong, generator charging. The only problem (pretty good one) that I have is, once the engine is running, the only way I can shut it off it to disconnect the fuel line. Is there a diode missing? Do I have a wiring problem? Any ideas would help. It did not do this before I added the charging system. Sorry if this has been addressed in the past...

Maybe one of the kill wires came loose. Check the back of the ignition switch. Should be two black wires going to the "M" terminals. When the ignition switch is turned to "off" it closes the circuit and connects those two wires which ground out the points. Or maybe the switch went bad. Test it with a meter. When "off" you should have continuity between the two "M" terminals.

OR you inadvertantly disconnected one of the black wires somewhere between the ignition switch and magneto.

Thanks-I will check it this weekend-the grounding of the points sounds like the most logical solution. I'll report back. Appreciate the response.
