Charging System

I have a 1984 Arrowglass on the Bow by the trolling plug there is a switch as follows

Charge 2/12v top
12v Middle
Run 12/24

When wired correctly what positions should switch be in for each particular operation and could someone kind of explain how the switch works

charge 2/12 use this when back feeding the trolling motor plug with a charger
12v middle use when you are only using 12v for trolling
run 12/24 use this when you are trolling and need both 12 and 24v to the trolling motor

be careful as it maybe getting the 24 by using your starting battery
i had it on my boat and that was the first thing that got deleted
