Ok so when I bought my motor its a 1966 evinrude 60hp the charging system was cut and when I opened up the voltage regulator...one of the screws were chared, what could of happened with the previous owner that he had to rip the wires for the generator...

Also if I were to connect everything together how would I know its working, do I need to buy a voltage tester?

Re: Charging system

If you want to know whether or not the charging system is working you need to install a voltmeter in the boat or buy a multi-tester (volt/ohm/milliammeter) at any home improvement store. Who knows why anyone does the things they do. It is generally because they don't know what they are doing or why they are doing it.

Thanks and one more thing, does the charging system beep or let me know when the battery is fully charged?
