Re: charging two batterys off outboard
I was going to just post same topic. I use an outboard with 11 amp max charging system, But!! I have found so far even leaving it idling while drifting and my normal use will not keep my battery charged enough to use electric trolling motor( to my liking). Am using a 1 battery system for everything. So everything ends up dead, even fish locator goes out till restart 40 horse with pull start. I do not want more batteries, extra kicker motor, all adds weight and more things to trip over.
I invested inna a adjustable drift sock. My back trolling is 1.5 mph at idle but want about .5 mph for trolling.
I considered calling nissan outboard to inquire about a high output charging system. Possible cheap resolution instead of adding more batteries/weight/ things to trip over.
I understand the desire to have a self contained boat not needing plug in's. My boat sits in storage or several days out an about where cords carring batteries seems counter productive to relaxing.
