Charging with two batteries.

I have a pontoon with two batteries and a battery switch. My question is are both batteries being charged by the engine when the switch is in the #1 or #2 position. I believe the land based charger charges both batteries no matter where the switch is set.

Welcome aboard.

I have to guess you have an outboard on your toon. Some OB's are capable of recharging, while some can only maintain a charge. With a battery switch, only the selected battery will be charged.

To charge both batteries from the motor, you need something like a Blue Sea Mini Add-A-Battery which will charge both batteries and cut off charging to the charged battery while continuing to charge the other until it is charged.

Putting the switch in both or all is likely the only way to charge both batteries at the same time. It's hard to say how your boat is wired as there are several ways of doing it.
