I just picked up the Humminbird Helix 5 DI and so far it seems great. I dont have the GPS version with chartplotting but I know the GPS and sonar one is under 700. Mine is easy to use and has a real nice look to it.
Now that Furuno has come out with "recreational" models, there is no reason to put up with the big box brands built-in obsolescence and poor quality issues.
