Exciting day today
My winter project was installing all new brakes and actuator on the trailer. Today was road test day. Did a local loop around town just in case something was wrong...would be close to home...all OK.
Bought a new to me truck to replace the SUV and I wanted to know where I stand weight wise so off to the scales...about 15 mile trip...get there, check the hubs, everything seems OK, get weighed and head home.
As I pull up to the house to back the trailer in, I roll down the window hear this god awful grinding noise. I'm thinking I blew a bearing on the way home but the hubs are cool. Continue looking and noticed the gap between the caliper and wheel is not what it should be....actually no space. Reach behind and feel around and found 1 caliper bolt caught between the caliper and the trailer frame, I feel for the other bolt....it is not there! Oh and by the way, it's a tandem axle so 2 bolts missing (1 on each wheel) and both on the same side. The bolts are some where on I-295 and hopefully not in someones radiator or windshield.
So somehow I thought I checked all four calipers, but apparently not. But other than this, everything else went fine.
