Ok my 1996 Johhny gets a check engine alarm at full throttle after about 3 min of running. I know this is triggered by a vaccum switch on the fuel line so it is pulling into a neg at full throttle.

Could this be because I put a OMC male / female plug on the fuel system inlet right at the fuel filter so I could switch from the main tank to the 6 gal portable tanks? Will this restrict the gas flow enough to trigger the alarm. I wanted to have an easy way to switch tanks but I think it might be restricting the gas flow to the engine at full throttle.

Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

I think you're right, thats the first thing I'd remove to find out.

The next checks are the antisiphon valve in the main fuel tank pickup, and the main strainer under the airbox. Make sure they are clean.

You are using 3/8 fuel line and fittings, right?

Its not recomended to use any extra plumbing conveniences like that, the 150hp is direct connect with clamps on the lines.

Yes I am finding out that it is my problem as I read more and more. It seems there is an issue with people that want to use a portable top side fuel tanks as a reserve.

I see two options.

1. Use a http://www.iboats.com/Three-Way-Val...4514809--**********.942595930--view_id.391860. I could hook up the main tank and it would be all 3/8 full port right to the motor. When running low on fuel throw to the B port and hook up a portable 6 gal tank through a OMC quick connect fitting and know that I can not run WOT that on a portable tank. I dont often use the portable tanks but it is nice to know you can get home if you run the main low or out of gas.

2. Get rid of the portable tanks and just use two 5 Gal gas cans that I can use to refill the main tank. It can be hard to fill the main tank in choppy water but it is possible to find a cove someplace to do a refill when running low. This might be the best and simplest option.

Anyone know where to get full flow 3/8 quick disconnects?

You can knock the internal valve out of the quick connectors, but then you have leaky tanks. I have a 6 gal plastic tank for testing my 150 but hook the fuel line straight on to the engine, its not very convenient.
