This light came on for two days, accompanied by a slight miss at idle and a hard miss at about 42- 44 MPH. Took it to the Ford dealer [ some of the emissions systems still in warranty[. They kept it for 3 days and reported that the light did not come back on during several tries to diagnose the problem. Couldn't find anything wrong. Picked the car up today and the light is off and driving OK. I'm concerned about my wife going off in this car and it stops running. Anybody got any ideas about what may be going on? Should I be concerned? My car knowledge went out with Holley Carbs and dual point ignitions.

Re: Check Engine Light 2003 ford Escape V-6

Could be isolated misfire caused by damp weather, car washes, driving in rain, lose or faulty gas cap, tank of poor or low octane gas, depending on total number of miles on vehicle, may be ready for spark plugs and spark plug wires. You could run a bottle of Cheron Techron in your next tank of gas and maybe a higher octane gas. My "check motor" light comes on sometimes mostly while driving in rainy weather. If it's just an isolated thing, you can erase that light by disconnecting your negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes to "reset" it. If it comes right back on then you may have a real problem to address. Good Luck!
