This is a '98 150 Fast Strike - had to rebuild 2 years ago - supposedly the MRO failed. Middle cylinder honed out ok. Has been running good since until last week. When running for 10-15 minutes the check engine goes off. Or when cruising 3-4000 rpm and full throtle is applied alarm comes on. Shut it off and restart it is ok for limited time. Change water pump got better stream of water but problem remains. Thermostats or VRO going again? With variable output how do you check?

Re: Check Engine Light/Alarm

If it is a carb engine, the check engine light indicates fuel restriction.

Yes it was a steady alarm.
Thanks for the fuel restriction idea. I removed the check ball coming out of the tank and changed the pump ball.
Back to normal or better.
Thanks
