Check for spark

I have a 65 hp outboard and I don't have the controls for it but do have the engine connector with short wires on it.  Looking at the wiring diagram if I put 12 volt DC to the red wire going to the switch box will that give me spark when the engine spins?   Assuming the ignition system is good lol<br><br>I hope I attached a jpeg of the schematic

You have to look at the wiring diagram carefully !!-----Attaching wires and putting 12 volts to the wrong place can get expensive.-----With key in the run position it may indicate something with the WHITE wire.-----Check and check before hooking up any wires !!
