There is simply nowhere on my boat to mount a premade switch panel. I am going to make one out of a PVC junction box with switches mounted on the outside. Here is a diagram I drew of my layout. Negative return wires from the accessories have been omitted for clarity. Is there anything blatantly wrong with this setup? It looks like I?m going to need 65 feet of 16 gauge wire. The boat is 15ft.

Thanks for the help

Re: Check my wiring diagram

Looks pretty good.

Couple things tho, you prolly have this figured out but the main fuse between the j box and the positive battery needs to be as close to the battery as it can be. The fuse can only protect wiring after it, so having the fuse close to the battery protects all the wiring after it.

Also what are your plans for the front 12v outlet? 18gauge will prolly suffice for things like a cell charger, but will NOT work something like a trolling motor, and combined with a 15+ foot run your going to have some line loss, may even be to thin for running a spot light. 12-14gauge would be my choice for this run. Just a suggestion.

Re: Check my wiring diagram

The switch for the NAV lights (bow and stern) is a three position switch (just in case you didn't know than). The stern light must be on ONLY when anchored (as in not moving). When moving (even drifting) both the bow and stern lights must be on. There are a couple of different ways this can be wired. One uses a six terminal switch and one uses a three terminal switch (ON-OFF-ON). Post back if you need help with that. I can provide diagrams for both types of switches.
