Re: Check this out

Your very first pic makes it look like the front (towards the bow) portion of the bellow is torn to shreds at the very top, with three pieces of metal-looking teeth sticking up...??? Or is that misleading? It's almost like I'm looking through the bellows.

Second, it looks like there is a piece of metal in front of the gimbal bearing, about 1 o'clock from the top of the bearing itself. I wonder if the housing is cracked, that's a piece of the bearing itself, or an optical illusion?

No matter what, you'll need new bellows, a new gimbal bearing, and a full inspection of the ujoints on the shaft assembly. And full cleanup of the shaft.

And no, I would say the "rust spot" is not where the water intrusion is, because that point is behind your gimbal bearing, and right up to the engine coupler itself.

Let us know what's going on with the pic's first and if that really is metal debris by the gimbal bearing.

There also seems to be some impact damage at 5, 8 and 9 o'clock on the aft end of the housing, I have no idea how that has been achieved.
You might want to look at the black plastic grease tube that is on the stb'd side of the transom shield, the way the grease is coming out of the gimbal bearing makes me think it might have been leaking where the tube is pressed in or an excess of grease has been applied. Bellows has got to be removed and the gimbal bearing too, come back when it is a bit clearer.
