Check your 6 Gal gas tanks Bone Dry and you might be surprised at the water on the bottom. Pour the last quart of fuel into a clear plastic or glass container, to easily see the water on the bottom. This was in fresh fuel I mixed at the start of this summer treated with Stabil. I try and burn most left over 50:1 fuel mix in 2-cycle lawn equipment and chainsaws (vs keeping it until next summer?s season in North TX).

1. Is it common to have inline fuel filters or combos that will separate water from fuel also? If so, are they easily found in auto stores?

2. Are all outboard rated 2-cycle mixes basically just as good? When our K-Marts closed I found at least 12 quarts (12 + years worth) of their brand at .50 a quart (I emptied the shelf). Since then I have used Quicksilver a few times thinking I was gaining some Cleaning, Boosting or Etc. Mainly since the need of Stabil and Etc to help with the life of Ethanol fuel. This is a blow to the pocket if Wal-Mart?s mix is just as good. Actually I took this as a tip from Frank, in a fuel post with his good details.

I've been using Walmart 2-Cycle oil for more than 5 years now with no issues. As for water build up in the fuel tank, depending on the humidity and temperature differences between night and day, condensation inside the tank can easily accumulate if temp difference is high. The best way to mitigate this is to keep the fuel tank as full as possible (thus no humid air inside) or keeping them inside a shed when not in use to keep temp changes at moderate.

Me and my buddy have been running mystic oil from bass pro its only $14 for a gal and I feel its been great oil. As for the water I agree keep the tank full.
