I have a 1985 90hp vro Evinrude. It has suddenly died on me a couple of times while running at full throttle. After this it ran just good enough to get me on plane and run about 60% throttle. I now can't get enough power out of it to even plane off. I have verified that the tank vent, fuel line, fuel filter are okay. I also replaced the spark plugs and checked to see if each was firing by pulling off one wire at the time while running. Each checked out to be working. I also loosened the screws out the bottom of both carbs and gas ran freely out of both. At this point I think the problem is electrical. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Also could someone out there tell me how to check out a power pack?

Re: Checking Power Pack

Sick powerpacks often fail after they get hot. There was a recent post about it. Use a hair drier and heat up the powerpack and then remove the plug wires and see if all are firing.

c/6
Hooty
