Hi folks,
Recently bought a '72 Formula 233 with a Chevy 350 and OMC outdrive. It has a 2 barrel carb. The last 2 times out the boat has run perfectly for about 45 minutes and than bogs and eventually dies. When you restart it it will idle most of the time, but under load, again it starts to bog. Have changed both fuel filters twice but am unsure if they are clogged. Is there anyway to check if a filter is clogged? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Re: Chevy 350 runs great than stalls

thanks Don S,
Will start with that and keep my fingers crossed, also today we pulled the gas tank cover for the first time and noticed that there was gas puddled in the bilge, not a good thing, and have determined to pull the tank. It's an aluminum tank (120 gals) that was installed in '90. On top looks pretty good but really want to check bottom for leaks and corrosion. Info you supplied will be helpful, thanks. I'm thinking this is a job for a shop to handle.

You Can't tell if they're Plugged,.....
But,....
If you dump the contents into a Glass or other large container,.....
You Should be able to SEE the Water,+ other Crud it's been collecting.........

Had the exact same problem. It was the fuel pick-up in the tank. It was partially clogged.
