I have been thru HELL with this boat-just check my other posts, so I have identified the module as my demon (a new EST kit came with a module that was bad). I swapped it for a module I had and BLAMO it runs and lives for more than 30 seconds. The module I had was from a 1991 truck, but I thought that all EST dizzys had the timing shunt thing trick, but when I try to get 0 degrees by connecting the 12v the motor dies. I go to good ol autozone and get an accel cool guy module and same thing-dies when 12v is supplied! What gives? Is this a marine only module? I want onto the water tomorrow! HELP! or can someone tell me what the timing indicator jagged lines that are rusty correspond to and ill just time it to max advance at 4000 RPM?

Applying 12v is why it dies. Timing shunt only crosses 2 white wires. You need to disconnect shift interrupter while in timing mode.

Re: chevy 5.0 delco EST timing

Tried it-crossing 2 white wires=nothing, no retard, still advances @ 2000-the same as if the white wires are not crossed. apply 12v with white wires crossed=motor dies-no spark. Apply 12v white wires uncrossed=motor dies-no spark. so back to the question-is this a marine specific module? and to that, and what does it matter if I can get the total advance out of this just by timing it? SO what timing markers equal what advance and what is the total advance that this should have?
