The Chicago Sun Times put the name, address and place of work of that Cub's fan that went for the ball in the paper! That kid is going to have to move or he risks being killed. What an outrage! The press has no sense of decency or responsibility any more. What a darn shame they would put a person in harm's way like that! What an outrage!

Agree, Ralph: completely irresponsible. Although I am not a sue freak this is one case I would make an exception.

I feel really bad for that guy. Sounds like a good guy, too, coaches little league, does volunteer work, poor guy, he'll never get over that.

This is really ashame. He's already had death threats. This fan did not cost the cubs the series. Cubs lost their chance at the series for a lot of reasons; poor management, choking players, Marlins scoring eight runs in one inning, the list goes on.

I feel sorry for this guy, he's just a fan who got excited whent he ball came his way and didn't pay attention to where Alou was. He didn't even get the ball in the end, which I'm sure will be worth a bundle.

If anything happens to this guy, we have the Chicago media to blame. It's a sick society that puts a baseball game above the safety and welfare of a man and his family. How can he keep his job and live in Chicago. The name of his employer has also been made available and harassing phone calls were directed to Bertran on his job.

Sad, very sad.

That fan did not lose the series for the Cubbies, it's really too bad that he is gonna be the goat (pun intended). There was no need to print his name, address or workplace in the paper--they really did put that young man's life in danger. I heard that he and his family have already recieved death threats.

What a lousy thing to do!!

It might have cost the Cubs the pennant. . .we will never know. . .but it was an accident, for crying out loud!! There were a bunch of people reaching for the ball, he just happened to be the one who touched it.

The Sun Times deserves a flood of outraged mail and Email.

'Nother reason why I don't watch or care for any sports... People just take some things way too seriously.

It's just a game. Leave the poor fan alone already! He's just doing his part.

As far as the media, they should be sued for all the problems this fan will now be facing.

H.

LMAO Guageguy - "GOAT", good 1 :D

Yes, a FOUL ball somehow computes into 8 runs? What about the game before that, or the 1 after? I'm not a fan of either team, but found myself cheering on the 2 "cursed teams" to make it to the World Series, until this episode. If this is any indication of the Cubs fan base, they can wait another 58 years for all I care.
