child sized PFD

I have ran into what I am guessing is a odd problem, one of my grand kids is plain to large for a child sized PFD he is short and built like a fire plug it takes a small adult sized one to go around him and of course its way to long and goes over his head when he sits and I have to make the extra child strap and I have hunted all winter for one that fits but am coming up empty and while I don't like doing it I am having a small adult sized one made to fit him. Any suggestions.

The one he has on is a youth sized one and he is 3 in that pic and their is no way its going to work this year

maybe have someone who sews take the one that is too large and cut and remove some material to fit better, someone like a tailor or shoe repairer, just an idea, might be cheaper than getting one made

That is what I am having done, I am having a small adult one cut down to fit.

Cute pic, James. Gotta love having the little ones aboard. I would suggest getting him a youth sized whitewater type PFD. They tend to be shorter because most of them are made with kayakers in mind. Here is an outstanding PFD that's reasonably priced. NRS Vista PFD - Youth at NRSweb.com I bought it for my daughter to wear when canoeing or rafting with me. She's outgrown it and I've passed it on to a little guy who is her age but much smaller. If that one is too long you should be able to find others with the same amount of flotation that are even shorter. I can give you some other places to look if you'd like.

I appreciate it. in fact their should be some around local we have some first class white water spots around. That`s a good looking vest, and the pockets will end up filled with rocks lol He is in a rock collecting phase right now. He is the deck boss lol last summer when his older cousin was out he proceed to explain how ever thing worked on the boat.

We have a good bit on the gauley and the new rivers

Yes sir. I have friends who head that way on occasion. More often they go to the Ocoee and Nantahala, but they hit the Gauley too.
