Hi all
I have a size 50 cents chip on the trailing circular edge of my propeller hub. How will this affect performance/durability ? I haven't yet time to put boat back in water. Engine is a mariner 150. thank you.

It might cause some performance issues or if severe damage to the unit itself if out of balance. If it is aluminum it should not be that hard to fix it unless there is other damage. Take it to a prop shop and have them check it out that it what I would do. Now stainless props can be a different story.

As far as performance you may find the prop gets fouled with exhaust in reverse.

on related issue,
on medium to high revs under load the engine is hunting , revs fluctuating, a sort of punching sound sometimes.
Could this a prop issue ? or probably something else ?
pardon any obvious as i newbie to outboards.

Like steelspike said and your statements have indicated your motor is experiencing flow problems be it exhaust or water to the blades. NOT a good thing and needs to be addressed before more damage happens.

Hey all
Just before I started removing the prop, I noticed a oil leak at the prop hub to leg joint. Seal failure I guess. Anyway prop was removed and first oil seal removed. But it is impossible to remove,knock out the inner housing to get to the inner seal. Is there a special tool or puller for doing this ? Any suggestions pls. Ta .

Most times, the oil that your seeing is, unburnt fuel/oil, and not the seal. A pressure test should be done before removing any seals. Just my .002
