Chirping from Engine

When I turn the key to start my engine ( 94 Johnson Ocean Runner 175hp ) I hear a high pitched chirping noise that only lasts a second. Assumed this was a noise associated with starting the engine. However recently this same noise occurs while the engine is running once every minute or so until I turn the engine off.... Any ideas what is causing this and how I can keep it from chirping at me?

Re: Chirping from Engine

I wouldn't rule out an overheat, but the engine is spitting a steady stream of water. And I ran it for 1/2 hour and it performs great. Figured ( hoped ) it might just be something electrical. Kinda like when the check engine light on your car turns on for no reason? I bought the boat/motor used and did not have a manual. Anyone have similar experience?

Has the vro oil pump been disconnected? Do you mix your gas now? If disconnected It will still beep every minute or so.

Is the chirping coming from console area or the engine itself?

Most likely just the momentary test of the warning horn to let you know that the horn is OK.

Starting around 1989 the horns have a second test ground circuit just for that purpose.
