Well mine does that from time to time as well. I just slide it back and forth with my hand a few times and it starts working just fine. Any input on my post about my 86 DT 75.

Does the 86 have a manual or electronic choke?I know the 88-95 model does.sometimes adjusting the springs,if it's electrical and the springs are to tight it will not shut.if manual a little lube and hand adjust back and forth to loosen will work.

It is an electric choke. Just put a new one on thinking the old one was not good. New one does just like the old one. Acts like its not getting enough voltage ??

Thank for your response.

The solenoid kicks in when you push the key in while turning it and keeping it there .... if it does not get enough power from the battery it will not kick in all the way ... make sure your battery terminals are clean, make sure there are no broken wires on the terminal wires .....
