Hello! I have a 1977 75 hp Stinger. My question is with the choke selanoid. I replaced the spring inside the selanoid and the spring that goes from the choke plunger to the middle carb. When I engage the choke the carbs all close nice and tight. When I deactivate the choke the choke plates on the carb barely open. I mean barely. Is this how this is supposed to work? Do those plates open up more when the motor warms up. I’m confused! Thanks Tim

Well yes and no. I don't remember the exact year but earlier years had a two-stage choke and operate as you just described. At some point, it was changed to operate as you are thinking it "ought" to be. Having said all that, there is a service bulletin advising modifying the early type to operate like the newer type. Just a wiring change, no parts replacement. I assume you have the early type, un-modified
