Not sure what I did. I finally got this motor performing the way I wanted and I messed something up.I decided to pull the carbs for a good cleaning and new gaskets I ordered. Took them off no problem according to the service manual. Cleaned and reassembled. Put everything back together. When I was putting the final fuel hose on I touched the battery cables by mistake and it sparked at me. I normally disconnect the battery and I just plain forgot this time. The choke will not close when I push the key in now. I have power at both sides of the circuit breaker according to a test light. I also have spark and the motor cranks just fine. I found a fuse panel under the dash and they are all good. There are some inline fuses off the battery also good.

What is my next step?

I also had somebody press the key in while I put a test light to the green wire and it is testing good to that point.

Guessing you have the old style choke and not a primer???
Loosen the screws holding it in place.
Spray WD in the slide and have someone operate the key again.
If it doesn't operate then.Change it.

Looks like you verified you get voltage there when the choke is pushed, but have you checked the ground side of the choke? I would verify you have a good ground on the choke before jumping to conclusions or purchasing any parts. Could be the engine ground is corroded and causing it to malfunction... Just an idea...

Ok I went out this morning and loosened up the clamp and used some WD, clamped it back up and it works. I am thinking it wasn't getting a good ground against the block.

The whole choke cylinder is a ground.
Sounds like the WD did the trick.
They get dry or gummed up.
