I have a 1973 Johnson 135hp motor. I note that there is a choke switch on the motor labeled:

CHOKE ... AUTOMATIC ... OFF

How does this switch operate in relationship to the "choke toggle switch" on the remote control? Confused how to use these for cold starts and running.

Just leave it on AUTOMATIC or ???

Re: Choke Switch on Johnson 135

This is good question, I know because I had it in the wrong position for over a year and my '73 motor had constant starting issues because of my lack of knowledge. If you pull the switch all the way out that engages the choke. If you push it in one click that's automatic and it's where you should leave it. All the way in is off and that doesn't let the motor choke itself a little bit to stay running and will cause you much grief!
