Where would these be located on a 1968 Johnson 55hp and what do they look like?

Hi brandon<br />Yor question is a little unclear. The vacuume switch you ask about is located on the starboard side of the motor. It is a round black thing about the size of a silver dollar. If you push gentley on the diaphram you will hear a click noise. The elect choke switch is located on the dash panel with the heat light. The choke silenoid is located on/or near the carbs also on the starboard side of the motor. It has choke linkage attached to it. The starboard side is the right side of the boat when standing in the boat facing the bow. Starboard is allways starboard no matter which way you face.

Thanks Alcan you've helped me out quite a bit. Now shouldnt there be wires running out of both of those or do the wires run into them. Also are the thermo and the Vaccum Switch the samething?

Hi Brandon<br />I thought I sent you a schematic, in full color no less. Did it not come through clear? The choke selenoid is basicly an electro magnet, it has one wire to it. this wire energizes the magnet which pulls the piston, which works the choke, No the temp sending unit and the vacuume switch are not the same thing. My very best advice to you is, For you to obtain a repair manual that covers this model and study it. From the sounds of things you need way more back ground on what ever your trying to do.

Well i found the temp switch, which is right above and to the right of the first spark plug. But no there is 2 wires coming out of both the choke solenoid and vacuum switch. anyways i got the starter to hit the flywheel nowst least so i know at least some of its right. And yes this is the first boat motor ive worked on but with that wiring schematic (which helped herrendously) and basic knowledge I think i can figure it out.
